Orders & Checkout
Customer Storefront Checkout Workflow
Understand the customer checkout experience on BusinessPlus storefronts: cart drawer review, contact & delivery capture, loyalty point redemption, and idempotency safeguards.
Customer Cart & Checkout Experience
When visitors browse your online storefront, clicking "Add to Cart" or "Order Now" adds items to their shopping cart drawer. Customers can adjust item quantities, remove items, and review real-time subtotal calculations.
Checkout Information Captured
To complete an order, customers fill out the checkout form:
- Full Name (Required): Customer contact name (maximum 100 characters).
- Phone Number (Required): Primary telephone number for order confirmation and delivery logistics (maximum 30 characters).
- Email Address (Optional): Used for sending order confirmation and PDF receipts.
- Delivery Address (Optional): Physical delivery destination or landmark instructions (maximum 1,000 characters).
- Additional Notes (Optional): Special requests, gift messaging, or preparation instructions (maximum 1,000 characters).
Loyalty Points Redemption at Checkout
If your site operates an active Loyalty Program and the customer is logged in, the checkout drawer displays their eligible point balance. Customers can toggle "Redeem Points" to convert points into an instant cash discount subject to your minimum redemption threshold and maximum order discount percentage limits.
Submission & Idempotent Processing
When the customer clicks "Place Order", the request is dispatched with a unique `order_request_id` (UUID). This idempotency token ensures that double-clicking or intermittent mobile reconnections will never create duplicate order charges.
What Happens After Checkout
Upon successful order placement:
- Initial Order Status: The order is saved with status `pending` and payment status `unpaid`.
- Inventory Decrementation: Physical stock quantities for ordered products decrement immediately.
- Instant Multi-Channel Alerts: The store owner receives in-app notifications, browser push alerts, WhatsApp order alerts, and an email summary.
