Stock Control & Reorder Points
Understand real-time stock level tracking in BusinessPlus: automated checkout decrementation, zero-stock storefront protection, reorder point thresholds, and stock filtering.
Real-Time Stock Tracking Overview
BusinessPlus monitors physical stock levels for all products configured with a numeric `stock_quantity`. Stock levels dynamically update as customer orders are placed or manual adjustments are recorded.
Automated Stock Decrementation
When a customer completes a checkout order on your storefront or staff process an order, the purchased quantities are immediately subtracted from each product's stock balance.
Out of Stock & Overselling Protection
When an item's stock quantity reaches 0:
- Storefront Out-of-Stock Badge: The product card automatically displays an "Out of Stock" badge.
- Add to Cart Disabled: The "Add to Cart" and "Order Now" buttons are disabled, preventing customers from completing checkouts for unavailable inventory.
Reorder Points & Low Stock Warnings
A Reorder Point is the minimum threshold at which you need to replenish inventory. When current stock falls to or below this threshold:
- Amber Table Indicator: The stock quantity text appears in amber with a highlighted indicator dot.
- Low Stock Banner: An alert banner appears at the top of the Inventory page displaying the exact count of items requiring restocking.
- Low Stock Modal: Click "View Low Stock" to open a dedicated list of all low-stock items with current levels, reorder points, and restock shortcuts.
Filtering by Stock Status
Use the Stock dropdown filter on the Inventory page to filter items by status: "All stock", "Low stock" (at or below reorder point), "Out of stock" (0 units), or "Not tracked" (no stock quantity set).
